This weekend was amazing. Aside from golf, after school on Friday my friend, Sam Collin and took me to a basketball pick up game at the hoop. You go there and there is people from all over who you randomly get put with and play with for two hours. After the last shot I made, which was a pull up three over this guys face, this really tall guy who was sitting on the bench said, " White boy can shoot!''. By that time I was 17/20 at three pointers and it was really cool. Afterward when I was in the parking lot Sam's dad came over and I told him what the guy had said. He then told me that that guy was Cliff Robinson who played for the Blazers and was really good. It was to hear that a former Blazer thought I could shoot.
Saturday was just a usual, great day up at the club hitting balls. I got a lesson up there. I was flicking my wrist on my back swing and not flicking my wrist on my fore swing. I was also trying to hit the ball instead of lagging my hands behind and initiating my swing with my hips. Got my normal fish n' chips and even saw my neighbor Russ Farr, who is also a member up at the beautiful Oregon Golf Club. I told him I was going to play nine the next day at Sandelie Golf Course. He then invited me to play on the actual course. I hadn't got to play on the course because my dad was still teaching me the etiquette of the game. My dad gave me four boxes of nike golf balls that were really nice. I was ecstatic.
So at nine in the morning and after a talk with my dad about course etiquette, Russ and I were off. We hit a couple balls and putted at first. I did pretty good. Russ gave me a hint to keep my elbow in and it worked. Then at ten, we met our partners in crime and golf, Polly and Chris(who are the nicest people ever) and were off. I obviously played horrible but it was still really, really fun. Russ helped me also on some golf etiquette I hit par on ten after the best drive in the whole entire world which left me twenty feet from the green on the par four hole. Only par of the day but it was a good one. Especially after the great ten foot put I sank.
On Monday I went up to hit balls and dad said I might be able to do nine. So when I got there, I headed in to the pro shop to check if there was any tee times available since there was a tournament going on that day. Got the best tee time ever at one fifty and since it was so early I got to play 18. Met a kid up there named Jordie who Polly and Chris were going to introduce me to but I just did it myself. We hit balls together and by the time it was time to tee off he was going with me. I did better than Saturday. I made two pars instead of one and one was out of the sand trap on twelve. I struggled with putting and consistency but again it was awesome. I established a handicap of 23 after I hit ninety five. Could have easily hit 89 but the front nine wasn't my friend. Anyway, now I'm like Lebron And Jordan with 23. I hit some balls afterward and while hitting a flop shot, I learned how to spin the ball. It really was the best weekend ever.
