Catching Up
Thursday was my first day of tryouts. I thought we would play because it was so nice out but we didn't so there's not much to talk about. Yesterday though my parents let me sleep in and then decided I had already missed enough school so they let me golf. I got up there around noon and right away got a lesson from Matt. He said I was focusing too much on bringing the club higher so I was taking it out in my first move and coming back across my body which was causing me to hook it. He had me bring the club inside and up on the right swing plain which was hard and then had me come back through hit out to my right but turning and making a big finish so that the ball would go straight. I played the front 9 and shot a 43 from the blue tees. I didn't start off well but parred 5,7,8,and 9 to escape at 7 over. Today I went up and played with my friend chase who is also trying out for golf. I hit the ball good today. I parred 1 which I never do. On 2 I hit a bomb of a drive to about 30 feet off the green but there was a ridge in the front of the green and a front pin so it was a tough chip. I got it decently close and barely missed my birdie putt. I didn't do as good on 4,5,and 6. I bogeyed all 3 of them. But then I parred 7 and bogeyed 8. On 9 I hit another bomb drive, a long 8 iron to the right side of the hill behind the green. I needed a perfect chip to get close but instead I bladed it and it rolled through the grass which slowed it down and I then made my 8 foot par putt. I also got my Vokey 56 degree sand wedge today which was good. I'm going up there again tomorrow and I can't wait for the coming week of golf.

Yesterday I had my playing lesson. I was hitting the ball good but I was fading my driver and Matt told me my chipping stroke was bad so I tried to change it mid round. That led to me being 8 over after 3. Then I turned it around on 13. I hit a not too bad drive into the rough, a great 7 iron to about 30 yards, and then hit my chip thin to about 35 feet. I hit such a good put. It had perfect pace and I had a great stroke. I made it for birdie. From there I went bogey or par on the remaining 6. I went back and practiced with my driver and practiced chipping. I went out on the back again. I hit my drive into the trees again but hit a great punch shot on to the green. I hit a good drive on 11 and a nearly perfect second shot. I hit it pure with a slight draw but the pin was on the left and my ball landed on a down slope so I was just off the green. My chip was short but I sank my 10 foot put for par. I parred 12 after a decent shot to about 25 feet. I started off 13 good with another drive in the rough a seven iron to about 80 yards. I don't have a sand wedge in my bag because it arrives on Saturday so I tried to punch a pitching wedge. I hit it into the creek but it luckily hit a rock and bounced to the right side of the green. I chipped It on to about 4 feet. And that is where my round went bad. I missed that 3 foot put. I did good on 14 until my uphill birdie chip only got to the fringe. I hit my drive into the trees on 15 again, punched out, and got another bogey. I pushed my drive on 16 to the best possible spot in the thick stuff. I then hooked my shot into a bunker, left my bunker shot short, left my chip short, and 2 putted for double. I bogeyed 17. I hit a good drive and second shot on 18 but I had to guess my distance because there were no yardage markers. I hit a great shot right at the flag stick but 30 feet over. I then 3 putted for bogey. Not what I would have liked. I really need to work on chipping and my driver but I know what I need to do. I just have small things to fix. The next time I blog will be about my tryouts which are on Thursday. I can't wait.

I got my clubs! They are great. My terrible shots are now mishits. I got a lesson and am getting a course one tomorrow. I was going too flat and that was also adding to my draw. Matt had me putting a club behind my feet and told me not to let the club go behind that club. It helped alot but when I got out to the course I lost it. I shot a 43 on the front and then decide to quit and practice. I saw grant and we decided to play the back. I started off par, bogey, birdie, and then went 3 over on the remaining 6. I nearly got a hole-in-one on 12. I drew it on purpose to the right side of the hole and then went right in front of the hole and landed about a foot from the hole. Then on 13 I hit my drive 280. I cant wait for tomorrow.

yesterday I got fitted for some new clubs. I was looking at the titleist AP2's but ended up with the Taylormade Burner irons. The assistant pro-matt-helped me get them and after he gave me a tip to hit more inside I was hitting the ball great. Im also going to start getting lessons from him. Today I went to Charbonneau and golfed the yellow 9. I shot 3 over but could have easily shot par which is good because that is where the try-outs are being held. I did great with my hybrid especially on the short par 3's that charbonneau has. Then we went to The club and practiced and ate more. I get my clubs on saturday and thats when I start my lessons. Im so excited.
